| Avoid Having Your Health
Benefits Surgically Removed |

In days of old, you saw a
doctor and paid a doctor (albeit sometimes with
livestock). Now we have health insurance, deductibles,
co-pays...

Beware of Email and Internet
Scams
Our loyal readers know we like to have
fun in our articles, but this is serious.
The IRS has warned that there
are multiple scams designed to defraud the unwary of
their tax refunds and savings. Do not respond to
online or email requests for personal information
purportedly from the IRS. If you have any questions or
concerns call the IRS or your trusted advisors.

Who Thinks Up
This Stuff?
Most folks know that Elliot Ness and his Untouchables
got Al Capone on income tax evasion. Ever wonder
exactly how that worked?

Financial Brief
Extended
Medical Benefits
The IRS has made it harder and
harder to take itemized deductions. Even your medical
expenses aren't deductible until they exceed 7.5% of
your adjusted gross income. For most folks with health
insurance, this means

Shameless
Plug
Back east we have the autumn
leaf-peepers, the folks coming up from the City to see
the fall foliage. Death Valley has petal-peepers
and this year we were numbered among them. We got
enough rain to make the flower display at Death Valley
fabulous this year. Oddly enough, our usual
favorite spot, Ashford Mills, was bare. All the
flowers were up by Furnace Creek Ranch.
And some friends from San Diego came to
visit, giving us a great opportunity to try a new
restaurant, specializing in honest-to-goodness hot and
spicy boiled crawfish. Yummy!
By the time you get this, tax season
will be just about OVER!
Life is definitely good.
